The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has lamented the political crisis rocking Edo State and the alleged betrayal of the deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu.
Oshiomhole shared his feelings in Iyamoh, his country home when supporters paid him a solidarity visit. The APC chair expressed disgust over the crisis that has engulfed the party in Edo and blamed Shaibu and some other persons from his Local Government Area, who he claimed betrayed him.
Addressing his supporters, Oshiomhole urged the people to continue to embrace peace and not allow themselves to be used for the wrong reasons because of money. He declared that Shaibu was at the centre of a recent altercation between youths in Iyamho and suspected thugs which he allegedly brought to the community during the recent convocation in Edo University, Iyamho in Etsako West Local Governmentv Area. He said There is nothing he has done in life without fighting because according to him he does not go out of his way to look for trouble.
In a swift reaction however,The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu said there was no way he would have betrayed his political godfather, Adams Oshiomhole. Speaking on behalf of his boss, Shaibu’s Chief Press Secretary, Musa Ebomhiana, said Oshiomhole is one person Shaibu holds in high regard.
So, according to him,he could not have betrayed him in any way. He said rather, in every sense of responsibility, the Deputy Governor is following the path set by his political godfather. Musa has also been quoted as saying that As a father, Oshiomhole taught him that no man is God and that no man can determine the destiny of his fellow man. He also taught him that the people should lead politically.
“As an obedient son and a good student of Oshiomhole school of politics, the deputy governor will not deviate from these. In view of this, I don’t want to believe that our leader and National Chairman of our great party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has said that his political son and deputy governor of Edo State betrayed him for whatever reason. Our chairman may have been misquoted,” he said.
